how to guarantee success in life

Hey ,

Us humans are so obsessed with achieving certainty.

💭 If I'm gonna spend 45 mins on this IG post, I want to make sure it brings me X number of likes/shares and X number of clients

💭 It doesn't make sense to pursue writing/speaking/ any "hobby", because it doesn't contribute to my current niche... I shouldn't distract myself (even though you feel extremely intrigued by it)

💭 I spent 2 hours at the networking event and didn't get any leads at all, logically it seems like a huge waste of time... but why did I actually enjoy it?

And look, it's not our fault.

Firstly, it's human nature for us to crave certainty.

Secondly, we've been brought up with a certain set of rules and measures of success — do well in school, get a good job then you can have a good life.

We were penalised by our teachers/parents for not meeting a certain academic standard.

Judged by friends/social media for not meeting a certain beauty standard.

Here's the thing:

There is not certainty in life. The only certainty is change.

The rules we've been taught growing up were created for us to live in a way that is beneficial to capitalistic society, not a life by our own design — one of alignment and purpose.

Why? Because alignment, authenticity and purpose cannot be put into an academic system and churned out in modules.

Each of us are so uniquely different. If all of us actually listened to our inner voice, how will the world function "efficiently"? How can societies be "productive"? (or so they think...)

In actual fact, the most powerful and sustainable ecosystems thrive in their own unique system and processes. Look at the 7,000,000 km2 Amazon rainforest. Leave it alone and it will thrive — it already has, for 55 million years. They stay abundant for years due to their unique combination of abundant resources, stable climate, and intricate ecological relationships.

They have their own unique systems and wisdom. If we try to replicate as a garden in our backyard... we will fail miserably.

Each of us are like our own massive rainforest. We have our own inner wisdom, so why the heck are we trying to copy systems from others?

We can't copy, but what we CAN do is to learn from principles — evergreen universal principles. We can anchor on truths.

This is why we get inspired by some people — because they exemplify a "truth" that we already know ourselves, deep down.

💭 How does listening to your inner wisdom look like?

💭 What are some truths you can anchor on?

This is a verse that anchors me and is an embodiment of surrender for me!

In moments you look for certainty (and it sends you into perfectionism and inaction, ask yourself:

💭 What are the internal resources and external resources that I already have?

💭 How can I trust the resources I do have, and surrender the rest to the flow of life?

How can you build certainty on the trust you have with your unique voice?

Because at the end of the day, change is constant, but your self-trust and identity is the certainty you can create.
