hold my feet to the fire! 🔥

Hey, Team River!

Thank you for the bodyguard romance inspiration in reply to my last email! You really helped me dive deeper into the vibes of the story and fueled my daydreams all week long! 😍

I have an unexpected four-day weekend, and I'm hoping to use it to get a lot of writing in. During our next check-in, I should have at least 15000 words to report. If I don't, you had better make me feel like SUCH a slacker! Deal?

By the time you read this email, I'll be writing the first scene in the book. The very beginning is either really easy for me to write, or really hard. There is no in-between. It's so important to me that the opening scene feels just right, and it either comes to me naturally and I never have to question it, or it doesn't come together quite right until the final editing pass.

I can't wait to find out which one it is this time. 😆

What do you look for in a beginning? Do you like the MCs to interact right away, or do you appreciate a chapter or two to let anticipation build before the meet-cute?

meet-cute ASAP!

meet-cute in chapter 2 (or later)

Until next week...

xo,

Rachel
