Back when I was a teenager, my dentist began recommending I have my wisdom teeth extracted. Fast forward twenty years, and I was still stubbornly putting it off.

All along I was encouraged with sometimes stern, sometimes joking remarks like, You know, your body heals less rapidly the older you get!, and, You really don't want to wait until they start to hurt!

Well, the dentists weren't wrong. The tooth on the upper left started to hurt, so I signed up my aged body with its reduced healing capacity for surgery.

Except the earliest appointment is in May, so I'll be self-medicating with OTC painkillers for the next several weeks. I'm sure it's fine...

Isn't there something to be said for choosing pain later over pain now? I think so, and yet I can't help wishing that the experience of the extractions and the recovery had been sixteen-year-old Rachel's problem instead of mine.

It's definitely not Tuesday.

The last week has flown, and so have the past twenty-four hours. I woke up early yesterday to write, and then I tried to squeeze in this email last night and almost fell asleep at my computer, squinting at my screen and wondering, Am I really going to send everyone an email about my wisdom teeth?

Now I'm drinking coffee after a night's sleep and squinting at the screen all over again. Because, apparently, yes--I'm totally going to send you an email about my wisdom teeth.

In a little over a week, night & day releases. There are already a few reviews on Goodreads and BookBub from ARC readers that I was so pleased to see. (A quick note that as I let the ARC readers know, with my apology, the book went to the proofer at the same time they got it, so unfortunately it had some inevitable errors. I'm happy to see that the imperfections weren't too distracting!) Every time a book leaves my desk, a part of me panics, wondering if anyone will actually like it. It's always a relief when at least a few people do. ❤️

I only have a couple of weeks left to finish my secret project. 🙈

My sons are having a joint birthday party at the zoo this weekend. 🙉

There's some other stuff afoot too that I'm not quite sure how to talk about yet. 🙊

Maybe it goes without saying, but I haven't had any time for reading so I don't have a book to share with you today. I'm in the mood for great romantic suspense, and I think my brain would benefit if I take a few more breaks... Any book suggestions?
