📚 Bi-weekly Business Book Recommendation (week 1/2)📚
The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit by Seth Godin, the legend of marketing: serial entrepreneur, best-selling author, and speaker.
- What: we have all been there. Moments of doubt and difficulty when life challenges you, and you ask yourself if you should continue or if it is not worth it. Entrepreneurship, business, career, work, everything is hard. Should you keep going through the grind, or should you quit and focus on something else? Find some food for thought on this topic with this little book, which you can read in a couple of hours or so.
- It's for you if: you’re feeling stuck, you’re a high achiever, you have big ambitions, you struggle with commitment, you fear failing or quitting, you’re an entrepreneur, a leader, or a professional facing the challenges of becoming better in your career.
- Key takeaways:
- "The Dip" is the difficult period after the initial excitement but before the big payoff. It’s where most people quit because it's harder to keep going. You will face this phase in every project which is worth pursuing.
- Quitting is not synonymous with failure. Strategic quitting means recognizing dead ends or distractions and refocusing on areas with real potential. Success is disproportionately awarded to those who are the best in their niche. Focus on excelling in a specific area.
- Understand when to quit: If a path is not aligned with your long-term vision or has no clear potential for success, quitting frees up resources for better opportunities.
- When you feel stuck and think about quitting, remember the reason why you started in the first place. Evaluate if that is still aligned with your goals.
