The "Behind the Scenes" Marketer

Nov 25, 2022 3:30 am

Hi ,

For the longest time ever I wondered if it truly is necessary for me to stay stuck to my phone 18*7 (gotta get those 6 hours of sleep at least!).

I also came across numerous tweets and LinkedIn posts questioning the efficacy of social media managers or content marketers who are themselves not present online.

The debates that followed those posts were intriguing.

While some said that it helped marketers who chose to stay offline focus better on their work, others said you need to live the algorithm to know the algorithm.

Well, I have always been the "present on every social platform" marketer. And while it was still manageable to live the experience when there was just Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter & Instagram, it became largely impossible to be omnipresent in the later stages.

Now there is Pinterest, Quora, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube for ads...and the list keeps growing.

I have given up on living the experience. I have decided on learning through others and staying updated on what the algorithm is doing instead.

In between my client accounts and business operations, I have little to no time to post on my personal handles. But that in no way should impact my ability to be a good marketer to my clients.

I soak up all the news and updates, right from the horse's mouth. And from time to time, I do try the occasional IG Reels transitions, so I can help my clients figure out the new trends, too.

As I advise my clients, I, too, have now zeroed down on 3 social platforms with all the focus I can provide to social media (plus this newsletter).

My absence on the other channel is taken care of by the reading and learning I do on them and the occasional visits to Snapchat/Pinterest.

So, if you are a marketer who is feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of social media platforms and the need to keep up with them...Just Chill!

Your mental health and calm are much more important than keeping up and building a presence everywhere.

Choose wisely. Stay consistent. And try not to let FOMO get to you.

You are doing very well!

Until next time...

Cheers and have a great weekend ahead!
