You open Workbench in a new directory, ready to try it. The project isn't configured yet. Previously, you had to do that setup outside Workbench before reaching the board.
That's a rough place to start when you're still deciding whether a tool belongs in your day.
With 0.107, Workbench guides you through that first setup. Choose Filesystem, Jira or GitHub, enter the settings you need, and review what will happen. Follow the actual loading activity until your board opens.
