Will You Join Us July 5th To Support Taxpayer Accountability?
Jul 01, 2022 9:58 pm
Hello, !
It's been a while since you last heard from us.
We're breaking the silence today on the occasion of asking for your support in raising our collective voices (and presence) to defend our rights as Amarillo taxpayers and oppose the attempt by the City of Amarillo to make the largest issuance of Tax Anticipation Notes in the history of our state.
That's right, the City of Amarillo is working very hard to cancel the 2020 vote on the Convention Center and press forward with the issuance of $260 Million in Anticipation Notes that will find their way into increased property taxes for you next year — without a single vote of taxpayers, without a public hearing, and in violation of local and state laws.
The attempt to issue $260 Million in Anticipation Notes is $200 Million more than the previous record-holder — San Antonio. A city with over seven times the population of Amarillo.
We now have our opportunity to support those who are actively standing against the Mayor and her agenda to circumvent the taxpayer's will.
Please make every effort to show up Tuesday, July 5th at 10:00 AM at the Potter County courthouse. More information can be found here on the Inspire Amarillo Facebook page.
We ask for your help in getting 500 people to the start of the trial so that it’s over-flowing with Amarilloans who demand that their voices not be silenced by a small minority who think they know better than the rest of us.
No need to stay long. Just show up!
