Hey ,
Got a question this week that made me realize most entrepreneurs think about marketing completely backwards.
The question: "Should I run ads or stick with organic content?"
Wrong question.
Here's the right one: What resources do you actually have?
See, Hormozi breaks down the only 4 ways to get customers:
- Warm outreach (your network)
- Cold outreach (strangers)
- Organic content (posting)
- Paid ads (buying attention)
But here's what nobody tells you...
You can only invest 2 of your 3 resources into any strategy:
→ Time
→ Money
→ Energy
Put all 3 in and you'll burn out. Guaranteed.
Here's my rule for ads:
If you make less than $20K/month, don't even think about running ads.
Why? Because paid advertising is expensive education.
You'll burn thousands figuring out:
- Which audiences convert
- How to set up retargeting
- What creative actually works
- How to optimize for profitability
That's time + money + energy = recipe for disaster.
But if you already know how to run ads (like I do as a Growth Marketer), then you're only investing money + energy. Not time learning.
For organic content, it's the opposite.
If you don't have money but have time and energy, posting content becomes your best play. You can successfully generate inbound leads by just being consistent.
The math is simple:
- More time than money = Organic content
- More money than time = Paid ads
- No experience with either = Warm + Cold outreach
Pick your lane based on your resources, not what some guru tells you.
Master one method completely before adding another.
This week's action step: Audit your current resources. Are you time-rich or money-rich? Then double down on the method that matches your situation.
Need help figuring out your specific strategy?
I'm opening up 3 spots for 1-on-1 Strategy calls in January.
