The work breakdown structure (WBS) serves as a project management tool that enables the systematic breakdown of a project into smaller, more manageable components.


Its purpose is to allow project managers to visualize and organize the scope of work necessary to successfully complete a project. 


An essential principle within the WBS methodology is the 100 Percent Rule, which establishes guidelines for the levels of decomposition and presents a structured approach to project planning and execution. 


The 100 Percent rule holds fundamental importance within the WBS methodology. It states that the WBS includes 100 percent of the work defined by the project scope and captures all deliverables in terms of the work to be completed.
