Overlooking a key project stakeholder is the beginning of resistance to change

In every project, there are key stakeholders (impacted/interested persons) who hold insights and influence over the success of the initiative.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝/𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬.

I learned this lesson the hard way early in my career during a major system implementation project with a manufacturing organization.
Based on the culture of the organization, being nominated to be on a project was a big deal.
During project initiation, the project manager, in the process of creating the budget, sourced costing information for a major line item from an individual contributor in the IT team.
First, it took him a long time to be available for any form of elicitation, and when he was finally available, he was reluctant about sharing the information the project team requested.
