Learning to speak 'business' instead of 'tech' during stakeholder collaboration sessions changed my career forever.

In my early days as a business analyst, part of my meeting preparation rituals were memorizing all the technical jargon to prove to the stakeholders that I was an expert.

During one of my meetings with a business stakeholder, I launched into a detailed explanation of use cases, asking him to share his use cases for the new system to be implemented.

I felt confident that my expertise would impress.

He politely showed interest and nodded throughout my “TED talk.”
