The knowing–doing gap is keeping many Business Analysts stuck

Jan 26, 2026 4:01 pm

Hi ,

Something happened in my kitchen last week.

I was teaching my daughter how to cook Jollof rice (we’ve done it many times before).

Every time, she watches closely.

Then last week, I said to her :Okay, you’ll cook the next one.

She quickly replied: No, no. I need to watch you do it again.

She was not lazy.

She even documented the step by step process

She was just avoiding practice.

She was afraid of making any mistakes and ruining the food for everyone.

She is forgetting that practice can come with mistakes.

And mistakes require feedback for improvement.

Observing only can feel safe.

But doing something new feels vulnerable.

And many aspiring Business Analysts unconsciously do the same thing.

➞ They keep learning.

➞ Watching videos.

➞ Accumulating knowledge.

So they stay stuck in observation mode.

Knowing creates awareness.

But doing is what builds competence.

If you want to grow, you need both.

➞ A safe space to try.

➞ To make mistakes.

➞ To get corrected.

➞ To improve.

That is what the Business Analysis Career Development Program is built for:

➞ Practice

➞ Feedback

➞ Confidence

We start this Saturday.

If you want to join us, reply to this email and I’ll send you the registration details.
