I am that PT without a 6 pack...

I am that Pilates Instructor without a 6 pack

Does that matter?

No.

Does that mean I’m not healthy?

No.

Does that mean I’m not a good instructor?

Certainly not!

But some corners of the internet will lead you to believe that a six-pack is the ultimate metric of peak fitness.

Here’s why that’s simply not true.

1.Having abs can be down to genetics

Did you know that we don’t all have the same number of “six-pack” muscles? it’s true.

2.You require very low body fat % to see your abs

There’s no universal figure for when body fat percentage is low enough for abs to become visible.

But for many women, the % required is well below the body fat required for optimal general health.

3. Not having visible abs doesn't mean you aren't strong

Having a strong core in crucial for our bodies. It helps our posture, prevents injuries and lower back pain, and helps reduce the risk of falls as we age.

You can have a strong, efficient core without having a visible six-pack.

And you can have a weak core with obvious abs.

I know which is more important to me…!

4. I won't sacrifice living the life I enjoy

I eat a very well balanced diet but...

I love prosecco. I love chocolate and i love socialising with friends and family over food at the weekends.

I will ALWAY prioritise this over having visible abs.

Love love loveeeeeeeeee, Han xxx
