AI made your team 3x faster at building the wrong thing

Hey ,
Demo day. Claude Code knocked out a backend migration in two days—so the team pulled in more work to fill the sprint. Cleaner APIs, better abstractions. Might as well use the time.
Then the product manager asked: "What can users do now that they couldn't before?"
Silence.
AI coding tools are real. The 2-3x speed gains are real. But faster coding doesn't automatically mean faster learning—and learning is the actual bottleneck.
In my latest post, I break down why most teams are optimizing the wrong thing, and how vertical slicing (shipping thin, end-to-end features instead of fat horizontal layers) is what actually turns coding speed into product value.
