Hi ,
Here's your investment report for Apr 18, 2022...
Stock Market
Inflation worries has the market see-sawing these days. US consumer prices rose in March by the most since 1981, while UK inflation surged to 7% last month.
However, my main concern is Interest Rate. While I explained in the video below there is little correlation between interest rate and stock market returns in the long term, in the short term it can trigger a drop in market confidence.
And we all know that market confidence determines the stock prices in the short term.
🎥 Yield Curve Just Inverted! Warning Signs of Bear Market? | Sell or Buy Now?
- Rate Hikes - Good news is that everyone is expecting 10 rate hikes in 2022/23. These are all baked into the market already..... Unless the Fed do a higher than expected hike such as 75bps instead of 25bps.
- Oil Prices Pullback - With oil prices pulling back, there is some slowdown in inflation fear and hopefully that reduces the chances of further Fed rate hikes.
- Stable Long Term Bond Yield - When comes to risk management, we always refer to the bond market. While everyone is worried about 2Y bond yield rising, the 10Y and 30Y bond yield has stayed relatively calm and stable ~2.8-2.9%. This indicates that the bond market is not seeing inflation continuing beyond the immediate term.
Overall, I am still optimistic about the market. As mentioned, in the last email, I believe we are already in a bear market and a recession should soon follow. However, it doesn't mean that I am not investing.
I am slowly re-entering the market with some extra allocation into strong companies, Bitcoin and Energy.
And that is exactly what I am doing for my investment clients in the Next Level Portfolio.
Right now, the Next Level Portfolio is opened for new application.

Property Market
I recently revealed that I bought two Singapore properties totalling more than 4mil in value.
The main reason is because property is such a great complementary investment to my stock portfolio. Providing stability and rental yield.
