Oh boy, procrastination!!!

Happy Monday Morning! We had to take the Diesel Dog (our 12 yr old dachshund) to the vet for dental surgery this morning, so now it's time for coffee and a little work before we go back to get him later this evening.

So, if you are near Lumina, drop in and I'll treat.

I hope you are planning your work and working on your plan today. Or, are you still putting it off? What are you waiting for?!?

Oh boy, procrastination...the word that strikes fear into the hearts of all those who have a deadline looming over their head. But have you ever thought about why we procrastinate so much? Well, my dear friend, it's simple - procrastination is actually a habit.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "But Shane, isn't procrastination just a bad habit that we need to break?" Ha! If only it were that easy. You see, procrastination is like that ex who you know is bad for you, but you just can't seem to stay away from. It's like a warm, cozy blanket that you can't help but snuggle up with, even though you know you should be doing something else.

It all starts innocently enough. Maybe you have a task that you don't particularly enjoy doing, like cleaning the bathroom or writing a research paper. So you tell yourself, "I'll just take a quick break and come back to this later." But that break turns into an episode of your favorite TV show, which turns into scrolling through social media, which turns into a 3-hour nap. Before you know it, the day is over and you haven't done anything productive.

And the worst part is, once you start procrastinating, it becomes a habit. Your brain gets used to the dopamine hit it gets from avoiding work, and it starts to crave it. It's like Pavlov's dog, but instead of salivating at the sound of a bell, your brain salivates at the thought of procrastination.

So there you have it, folks. Procrastination is not just a bad habit, it's a full-blown addiction. But don't worry, we can beat it together. All we need is a little bit of willpower, a lot of coffee, and maybe a shock collar to zap us every time we start scrolling through TikTok instead of doing our work. Easy, right?

But fear not, my fellow procrastinators! There is a solution to our chronic laziness, and it comes in the form of...drumroll please...hypnosis! That's right, folks. Hypnosis has been proven to be an effective way to overcome procrastination. And no, you don't have to watch a swinging pocket watch or listen to a creepy guy with a monotone voice. (Although let's be real, that could be kind of fun.)

You see, hypnosis works by accessing your subconscious mind and rewiring your thought patterns. So instead of automatically reaching for your phone or getting lost in a YouTube rabbit hole, your brain is trained to prioritize your tasks and stay on track.

And the best part? You don't even have to leave your house to try it out. There are plenty of hypnosis apps and videos online that you can use from the comfort of your own bed (or couch, or bathtub, or wherever else you like to procrastinate).

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Hypnosis? That sounds like some woo-woo pseudoscience." But believe it or not, there have been actual scientific studies that prove the effectiveness of hypnosis in treating procrastination. So it's not just some hippy-dippy woo-woo stuff. (Although let's be real, there's nothing wrong with a little woo-woo from time to time.)

So there you have it, folks. If you're sick and tired of constantly putting things off, give me a call, and let’s get you sorted out.

And worst case scenario? You will know how to relax... and, well...there's always TikTok videos to fall back on.

Hypnotically,

Dr. Shane
