Marketing analytics can be intimidating mostly because some of us hate numbers, don't know what analytics numbers mean, OR we are so focused on campaigns and sales that measuring campaigns aren't a priority.
But here's the thing: Marketing analytics, or tracking data, activities and campaign performance and using this information to make decisions will help you make more money, save money, and enhance your entire business operation. That's it.
This is why you need to dig into your analytics much more and also why companies have increased spending on business intelligence and data analysts. They want to know what's working, what's not, and make customers experiences better so they can spend more.
I'm going to keep this really simple though if you're just getting started. Focus on these two things:
- Installing tracking pixels (start here: Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, Search Console, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads)
- Setting up conversion tracking (There's tracking beyond pixel installation that can give you exact dollar amounts to tell you how much money one campaign has generated for you).
This way you will be able to:
-Measure the success of your website and campaigns
-Optimize existing campaigns
-Re-market to people viewing and engaging on your website
To give you a list of a few things you want to monitor, I've created this analytics cheat sheet for you to download.
