OPIN Insider - August 2021
Hello all!
August has come and gone and we look forward to September!
Did you know August was named to honour the first Roman emperor (and grandnephew of Julius Caesar), Augustus Caesar (63 B.C..–A.D. 14)?
Now that September is here, that means fall is right around the corner, which is great if your favourite season is fall (like me)! August has been a VERY hot month here in Canada, by Canadian standards of course. A nice fall breeze will be welcoming.
So what can we look forward to in the coming month? Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- September 12 is Grandparents Day. Honour your grandparents today—and every day!
- September 15 is Yom Kippur, the holiest holiday in the Jewish calendar.
- September 21 is recognized as the annual International Day of Peace. Observances range from a moment of silence at noon to events such as peace walks, concerts, and volunteering in the community.
- September 22 marks the start of fall! This year’s Autumnal Equinox occurs at 3:20 P.M. EDT on Wednesday, September 22. At this time, there are approximately equal hours of daylight and darkness.
- September 29 is Michaelmas. Michaelmas is an ancient Celtic “Quarter Day” which marked the end of the harvesting season and was steeped in folklore.
Now let’s dive into the August newsletter!
The Paralympics Have Come and Gone!
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympics are always a very special and meaningful time not only for the athletes but for OPIN as well. As you may already know, OPIN is a national sponsor of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, whose goal is to inspire all Canadians with a disability to get involved in the sport.
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Our sponsorship with the Canadian Paralympic Committee is only one of several national programs that we are currently sponsoring, encouraging healthy and active lifestyles.
You may not know that in addition to our sponsorship and Paralympic support, OPIN redesigned and continues to maintain the fully accessible website for Canadian Paralympic Committee.
We have introduced a lot of storytelling to the different athletes and share their journies. The athlete profile feature was added to understand each athlete to follow and keep up with.
Be sure to follow your favourite athlete proudly and congratulate them on this year’s awesome games!
Exciting News!
OPIN Digital has launched a low-code app Freeflow to help Drupal website owners easily build beautiful web pages!
According to research by analyst firm Gartner, more than 50 percent of medium to large enterprises will adopt a low-code application platform (LCAP) as one of their strategic application platforms by 2023, largely due to developer shortages and skill-set challenges.
Freeflow is a complete web component design system that provides full flexibility in building your website pages. Web developers and designers can now easily build fully customizable and brand-specific pages that can easily be adjusted as your organization digitally evolves.
If you want to learn more about this exciting new platform, reach out to us and we will schedule a meeting to give you a free demo of what we have been working on over the summer!
