I'm still adding city diretories to the website and am finding more and more local libraries that are digitizing collections. It's pretty exciting to see the newest offerings at libraries around the United States. I'll present an organized compilation of US libraries when I'm through, but until then...

Check the local libraries near you and see if they have anything similar to the Putnam County Public Library (below). Digitizing old photographs takes time but it can be a huge cost-saver to box up your photos/memorabilia and take them to a nearby library or historical society where you can create digital copies.

I did this at a local college library. I used a collapsible dolly to cart the boxes to their lab--it was a good hike--but I did it multiple times because they offered their equipment for free and they had top-of-the-line scanners.

And here's a To Do List for BEFORE You Scan. It takes a lot of time to scan memorabilia, but even more time to prep the items for scanning.
