RootsTech 2022 Deals and Promos and Handouts
Mar 04, 2022 6:01 pm
It's that time of year - RootsTech! RootsTech 2022 is all virtual for the second year in a row. Next year they're planning a hybrid version with both in-person and virtual options.
I've written a couple of blogs about the RootsTech specials offered by Sponsors and Exhibitors. If you have any interest in family history, you'll want to spend the next two days going through the booths and classes and gleaning what you want because some deals will end soon and a few classes will be removed from the site, as well as any handouts.
Many classes will stay online for an entire year, until RootsTech 2023, but some instructors consider their offerings proprietary and will not allow RootsTech to host the class all year for free--understandably.
I'll spotlight a few specials below, but please visit the blogs, Sponsors and Exhibitors, to do your own research.

Legacy Family Tree Webinars is offering 50% off 1 year membership using coupon rootstech22 (new memberships only) normally $49.95, with coupon $24.98 -- I pay full price every year, it's that valuable!
IIMI/Roots Point - Search our 9600 ebook titles - special $4.99 rate for ebook downloads - I use this site to search for family genealogies by surname. So in the GENMALL search window where it says "All Categories" and "Search Products" I type a surname and see which digitized books they have that might include my family. Then I go to archive.org and see if that book title is available for free, if not, I'll pay for the $4.99 download on this site.
Ontario Ancestors - The Ontario Genealogical Society has great resources if you have Ontario ancestors you're researching. Check out all the genealogical societies at RootsTech (some are part of Society Sponsors in the Sponsors blog while others are only in the Exhibitors grouping). It's always helpful to join a society in the area you're researching. I try to be realistic about how much time I have to actually do my own research, aka, the cobbler's children have no shoes dilemma.
If you have time, sign up for a free consult at:
- Legacy Family Tree Genealogist-on-Demand virtual consultation

And there are many more offers, depending on your area of interest!
Handouts
I'm still working on a blog post about the free handouts available this year at RootsTech so keep checking that blog post for updates. You'll want to grab these before the Conference ends because they are also considered proprietary and will most likely be removed from the website when the conference ends on Saturday.
To find handouts on your own, use this SEARCH bar and type a locale (Spain), or a topic (DNA), or a lecturer (Lambert) and then go to each search result and scroll to the bottom of the page to see if there's a syllabus, handout, or slide presenation you can download. I probably will not have time to curate a list of all the class handouts before the show is over and they're removed from the site, but here are a few handouts I've grabbed so far. Click the link and use the down arrow/download button to download the handout to your own computer or device.
