I'm Feeling "Perhaps"

,
Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking while sitting in my room—thinking about my life.
(You definitely have also had such moments.)
A major reason for this is that I’ve been staring at an Excel sheet that shows the projected budget that needs to be raised to make this year's edition of The Creatives Discuss a success.
I look at those numbers, and I'm thinking,
"How do I do this?"
and
"Is it possible?"
In all honesty, doubts begin to arise in my head. Perhaps it’s beyond me.
You see, the world wants us to speak in absolutes and in 100% assurances.
The "Digital Village" has conditioned us to believe that if we aren’t 100% sure about our next move, we’re failing. We are fed these "alpha" narratives that demand total certainty before we even take a step.
But boy oh boy, have I found a lot of peace in a different word lately.
The Word “Perhaps.”
You see, "Perhaps" is arguably the most honest word in the human language. It’s the word that exists in the gap between where you are and where you want to be. It’s the space where curiosity lives.
While I was thinking about the possibility of this event happening, I realised one thing:
the best ideas don't come from a place of certainty.
They come from you and me saying,
"Perhaps I could try this art thing,"
or
"Perhaps we could gather 1,000 creatives in one room this year."
"Perhaps" is the father of the sidequest.
When I announced the first physical edition of The Creatives Discuss in 2025,
I wasn't 100% sure it would work.
(Just like I'm not 100% sure this year's edition would work)
I was feeling "perhaps." I didn't have the sponsors yet.
I didn't have the venue. But if there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s the fact that I need to have the "moving man" mentality and a willingness to see what happens next.
For this year's edition, I’ll be using a more experienced and mature mind to tackle this.
But the philosophy remains. If I had waited until I was "certain," that event would still be a draft in my notes.
The problem with "hustle" culture is that it leaves no room for "perhaps."
It demands that you pick a niche, stick to it, and never look left or right.
It tells you that curiosity is a distraction.
But today, I’m reminding you to embrace the uncertainties that might show up in your plans.
Acknowledge them and still push regardless.
That’s what being brave is all about.
What is that one thing you’ve been holding back on because you aren't "sure" yet?
Maybe it’s a new style of photography, a career pivot, or just a new way of loving. Don't wait for the "alpha" voice to tell you it's time.
There's no right time, and there are no right conditions.
In engineering, we look for constants.
But in life, the only constant is change.
"Perhaps" is how you stay flexible enough not to snap when the wind blows.
It’s how you stay "unplugged" from the pressure to be perfect.
I’m figuring out this 1,000-attendee goal as I go.
I don't have all the answers. I’m just moving, planning, reaching out, and most importantly, feeling "perhaps"—trusting that I’ll meet my luck on the way.
Are you brave enough to not be sure?
