The Myth of the Perfect Creative

Hi ,
I know that sometimes, in the quiet of the early morning, we are sometimes left alone with our thoughts—and sometimes, they’re not always kind.
I remember days when I’d be feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to want to make a name for myself as a creative, improving my skills as a Creative or the Heaviest one of them all...
How to be a Successful Creative.
I’ve been there, and I want you to know that every creative struggle you face isn’t a sign of failure, but a part of the process. Every time I’ve felt stuck, it’s been a catalyst for growth.
I’ve learned to see my missteps as steppingstones, not roadblocks. And I believe your journey, with all its twists and turns, is just as valuable.
Last week, my therapist
(which are my thoughts, because I can't afford therapy just yet hehe)
said something that punched me in the gut:
(More like I was thinking about a certain situation, but you get the gist)
“You’re addicted to the myth that you’re uniquely broken.”
Ouch.
But my therapist was right. I’d convinced myself my creative anxiety was a solo burden for a very long time until I stumbled on this thing called community.
Here’s what we’ve all been hiding:
- At least 12 of you have cried in a bathroom or in your room after a client call.
- 8 admitted to lying about “working with the Client's small budget” because you were scared to charge more.
- One person (me) once Googled “how to make money as a creative.”
So...
let’s burn the myths:
- Reply with the lie you’re most tired of believing (e.g., “I have to hustle to deserve this”).
- Forward this to someone who needs to hear: “Your ‘broken’ parts are my favorite parts.”
I’ll compile every response into a zine called “We’re All Faking It (And That’s the Point).”
Take me as a case study, I lived up to the name of "World's Greatest Failure" in the last mail by sending out the mail with the incorrect First name tag. Lol.
We are all learning to be great at what we do.

P.S. Twitter space guests: Chidinma, Tolu and Afolabi just admitted they still uses battle this thing called IMPOSTER SYNDROME.
Listen here.
P.P.S. If you notice our Instagram page is kind of empty and I've been thinking what if I said we could meet up, you (being a community member) and I. You get to come talk about your struggles, wins and Ls, We record it and post on Socials.
It's not an interview, Just two People talking to each other and learning from one another.
What do you say?
