BREAKING GLASS CEILINGS

May 25, 2026 1:05 pm

Hello Family,

In our journey toward impact, we often run into "glass ceilings"—those invisible barriers that try to limit how high we can go. These might be institutional rules, societal expectations, or even the narrow-mindedness of others. But glass ceilings are meant to be broken. Overcoming them requires a mix of strategic preparation and the bold belief that you belong in the room.

To break a ceiling, you must first refuse to let it define your height.

A Lesson from My Book: Growth is Personal

In my book, Growth is Personal, I share how I felt trapped by my own "ceiling" for years. I was a stay-at-home mother, and many people assumed that was the only chapter I would ever write. The institutional barrier wasn't a corporate office; it was the societal expectation that I should stay in the background.

I realized that to break through, I had to stop waiting for someone to give me a seat at the table and start building my own. I had to invest in my mental capacity and professional skills so that when I did speak, my value was undeniable. I learned that you don't break ceilings by shouting at them; you break them by growing so large and so capable that the ceiling can no longer hold you. Your growth is the hammer that shatters the glass.

A Story from the PDAC Foundation

At the Pdac Foundation, we encounter institutional barriers every day. Many people believe that certain levels of leadership and financial literacy training should be reserved for children in "elite" schools. They think that underserved children can't handle complex personal development tools.

We decided to break that ceiling. By bringing high-level leadership curricula into local communities and public schools, we are proving that brilliance is everywhere—it just needs opportunity. We aren't just teaching children; we are challenging the institutional systems that tell them to "stay in their place." Every time a student from an underserved neighborhood speaks with confidence and dreams of a global career, another glass ceiling is shattered.

This Week’s Challenge

Is there a "ceiling" you have accepted? Maybe a promotion you haven't applied for or a project you think is "too big" for you? This week, do one thing that challenges that limit. Send the email, sign up for the course, or make the pitch. Break the glass.

Keep growing,
