Autumn in Aotearoa New Zealand

Kia ora ,

After a fairly questionable summer across much of New Zealand, the weather has started to turn 🍁

We've woken up to a few chilly autumn mornings in Auckland and have enjoyed seeing photos in NZTT, sharing unseasonable dusting of snow in parts of the South Island.

Though many people prefer to travel in New Zealand in the summer (it is, after all, our peak season), we think autumn/fall is hard to beat!

Summer is busy throughout the country. When travelling in peak season we suggest booking activities in advance (don't forget you can save money using our NZTT discounts) and having a solid plan. And, as we've just seen, our summers aren't always as reliable as we'd like.

Autumn, however, often brings mild, sunny days from March to May. Cooler temperatures make hiking/tramping pleasant and though it starts getting darker earlier, days are still relatively long compared to the middle of the year when we hit winter.

The change of the season brings beautiful orange, gold and amber hues in parts of the country, making for stunning photos too.

If you plan to travel in our beautiful country in autumn, read this article sharing more about what to expect and the best places to travel to in our favourite season.

Enjoy soaking up that autumnal magic - we certainly are.

Aroha nui,

Sarah
