⚱️ How to live a short, unimportant life.
May 11, 2024 3:15 pm
Hey ,
Sometimes, in order to know what to do with our lives, we must first understand what not to do with them.
The decisions and actions that will guarantee zero success and ensure we don’t live a life we would say we are proud of.
And in today’s newsletter, that is exactly what we will talk about—those things that will lead to a short, unimportant life.
1. Consume trash.
Feed your body, mind, and soul with junk, like unhealthy food, mindless TV, negative social media feeds, and negative conversations.
Consume all the things that will bring instant gratification and pleasure. Not the ones that could potentially help you grow and better yourself.
2. Assume you are always right.
Reject the ideas and opinions of others.
Never question your own assumptions or beliefs.
Always assume your opinions and thoughts are final, correct and cannot be wrong.
3. Blame.
Always put the blame on others when things go wrong.
Stay away from taking responsibility for your actions, as it could help you grow as a person and make your relationships better.
But since leaving a life of meaning isn’t what this is all about, avoid responsibility at all costs.
4. Take more than you give.
Be selfish.
Remember, in this quest for an unimportant life, it's all about you.
Helping people, being kind, and giving back to your community should definitely not be in your to do list.
5. Don't learn.
Embrace the saying, “Ignorance is bliss.” Literally.
We all know that knowledge could lead to growth, understanding, and wisdom.
But if you want a short, unimportant life, those are things to avoid, not strive for.
6. Assume the worst in people.
Only look at the worst in people.
This attitude will surely keep your relationships shallow and unfulfilling, perfectly aligning with an unimportant life.
7. Embrace procrastination.
Why do something today that you can do tomorrow, next week, or maybe not at all?
Productivity and speed could lead to success, but that's not what you're aiming for.
Procrastinate till your heart is content.
8. Neglect self-care.
Ignore the fact that your body needs regular exercise, enough sleep, and mental rest.
Self-care could help you stay healthy, happy, and alive for a long time.
But that is not part of the plan, right?
So if you're not looking to live a short and unimportant life, make sure to do the opposite.
✍️ A QUOTE TO REFLECT ON:
"Not how long, but how well you have lived is the main thing.” — Seneca
Living well is not about the number of years one has accumulated, but rather about the quality of those years.
The true essence of life lies in the depth of our experiences and the impact we have on the world around us.
It is not about the quantity of time we have, but the way we choose to fill that time with meaning, purpose, and joy.
🤔 A QUESTION WORTH CONSIDERING:
In what areas of your life do I do things that clearly won’t serve my future? How can I change them?

If you’re interested in making money, this video by Ali Abdaal is worth checking out.
He talks about the 4 ladders to wealth, which was inspired by an article he read by Nathan Barry in a viral 2019 blog post. The ladders were:
- Ladder 1: Trading time for money, exemplified by traditional employment or wage-based work.
- Ladder 2: Transitioning to service-based businesses, often freelancing on platforms like Fiverr or Upwork.
- Ladder 3: Scaling up service-based businesses into productized services, emphasizing standardized offerings and scalability.
- Ladder 4: Ultimate wealth creation through selling digital or physical products, software, or subscription-based services, offering potentially unlimited upside.
