🎁 LIFE LESSON OF THE WEEK
Hey . So today I want us to take a look at eight major lies a lot of us keep telling ourselves that are keeping us from success. Let’s begin:
1. Lie 1. "I would do x if I had more time."
Truth 1: If x is important, you’ll make time for it.
We say we want to do a lot of things, but when it comes down to it, we really don’t want to.
Either you make time for X or just admit that it isn’t important.
2. Lie 2. “If I get, marry, travel to, or eat x, then I’ll be happy.”
Truth 2: You can only be happy in the present moment.
Unless you stop believing that it's somewhere else, it’ll never be where you are.
3. Lie 3. “If I say or do x, people will judge me.”
Truth 3: Most people are not as interested in what you do as you might think.
And that is because they’re far more concerned about their own things.
4. Lie 4. “I would change, but I can't because of x.”
Truth 4: Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of changing.
If you aren’t working towards change, just admit that you’re comfortable.
5. Lie 5. “This is awesome / this is terrible.”
Truth 5: Good or bad, is subjective.
A person's reality depends on how they choose to see things.
Pick carefully.
6. Lie 6: “You need to have the perfect idea in order to build something meaningful.”
Truth 6: There are plenty of good ideas in the world, but not enough people who are willing to put in the work to make the most of them.
7. Lie 7: “I just need more information to do x.”
Truth 7: When you have all the information you need, the opportunity could have already passed.
Start before you think you’re ready.
8. Lie 8: “Your future will be determined by your GPA and test results.”
Truth 8: If you searched on Google for successful people who didn’t graduate, the list would be endless.
Where you end up in life depends more on what you do, what you consume, and who you hang out with.
Grades mean far less than most think.
📙BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK
I really enjoyed this book by Gary Keller. The book showed me how important it is to focus on one thing at a time. It argued against the common belief that multitasking is productive and encouraged focusing on a single task.
It all started with asking, "What is the ONE Thing I can do that will make everything else easier or unnecessary?"
Here’s a sneak peek at the intro on ShortForm:
“In The One Thing, real estate entrepreneur Gary Keller argues that the key to extraordinary success is focusing daily on the "One Thing" that will make the biggest difference in achieving your goal.
Keller, founder of the world's largest real estate company Keller Williams, says that success comes from choosing and doing the right things sequentially, each connected to and building on the previous one, rather than doing a lot of disparate things, regardless of value, simultaneously. Extraordinary focus on One Thing each day is what leads to extraordinary success.
You start by thinking big-imagining extraordinary results—then narrowing your focus until you're thinking small-that is, focusing on the most important thing you can do at the moment to help get you where you ultimately want to go. Focus on it exclusively, and when you complete it, move on to the next One Thing on your way to your goal.”

🎧 THE PODCAST EPISODE RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK.
12 things we've learned from 12 years on YouTube
Summary:
In this episode of the Colin and Samir show, they discuss 12 interesting and pretty insightful lessons from their years on YouTube.
I found their perspectives on YouTube after 12 years really interesting. Here are the twelve lessons in no particular order, just in case you may not have the time to listen to the episode:
- If you’re going to start YouTube, you have to have some way of visualizing/manifesting it down the road. What does making it look like for you?
- It’s a practice, and you have to commit to getting better at it. It’s a daily practice, and part of it is discovery. Let the world unfold in front of you.
- Good art is irrational, and there’s a big difference between what you want to make and what you have to make. It's fun when you want to make it, but it changes when you have to make it.
- Pick an audience that you truly want to provide value to and that you are a part of.
- Money complicates things. You need an engine and a creative outlet. Be aware of what happens when you commercialize your creativity.
- You’re not working on a YouTube channel, you’re working on yourself. So much of the process has been about self discovery. What does it mean about yourself instead of the growth of the channel?
- You can take a break; actually, you need to take a break. Our most creative project won’t happen until we take a break.
- Brand is more important than reach. Especially, in the long term. Think about what your brand stands for.
- Everything is an experiment; nothing is permanent. Whatever we look like today may be completely different in two years.
- You need to have an understanding of what it means to be validated. “Validation comes when my idea turns into something that matches my taste”.
- Take inspiration from weird places, especially away from YouTube.
- YouTube is a ticket to the extraordinary. When uploading YouTube videos, you never know who is going to see them, what’s going to happen, or who is going to reach out.
