♟️ This is why you lack discipline

Hey .

Do you ever wonder why discipline can be hard to develop and make you feel like you are always failing to reach your goals?

Well, you're not alone.

In this issue, we're going to look at the reasons behind the lack of discipline and share some valuable insights on how to overcome it.

1. You don’t have a clear "why".

If you say you want to be disciplined, let me ask you this: why?

Why is discipline important to you?

Without a clear understanding of why it is important, you will struggle to develop and stay disciplined.

When things get tough, knowing why you are doing something gives you a sense of direction and purpose to keep going.

Here’s my reason: to retire my parents.

What is yours?

2. You lack clear goals & systems

Having a strong why is one thing.

Knowing exactly what you are striving for and how to achieve it is another.

When people do not have clear goals and plans, they make little to no progress.

The lack of specific goals and plans makes it difficult to plan ahead and remain disciplined in working towards success.

Here is one of mine:

#1 Goal: Create an online course.

#1 Process: Spend at least two hours a day, ideally in the afternoon, writing the script for the course.

3. You are in a place filled with distractions

Distraction-filled environments can make it much harder to be disciplined.

These distractions, like a messy workspace, constant notifications, or a noisy place, take your attention away from your work and make it hard to stay focused.

The solution is simple.

Either go to or create an environment with minimal distractions.

Here’s my ideal distraction free environment: phone out of sight, empty room, and no TV. Just me and my laptop.

4. You show up only when you’re motivated

Relying solely on motivation can lead to little to no results at all.

The thing about motivation is that it can be fleeting, and waiting for it to strike before taking action may lead to a lot of wasted time.

To become disciplined, you have to be willing to show up and do the work, even if you do not feel like it.

Instead, try to show up, regardless of how you feel.

I hope these help.

✍️ A QUOTE TO REFLECT ON

“Someone with half your IQ is making 10x as you because they aren't smart enough to doubt themselves.” - Ed Latimore

Your worth is not defined by your IQ alone.

It's important to remember that intelligence is not the only factor that determines success.

Remember, success is a journey that is not solely determined by intelligence but by a combination of various qualities and efforts.

Your worth goes far beyond just your IQ - you are capable of achieving great things with the right mindset and dedication.

🤔 A QUESTION WORTH CONSIDERING

"Do I spend enough time with the people who would cry the most at my funeral?"

Time is a gift we can never get back, and how we choose to spend it truly reflects our priorities.

Investing time in the people who hold a special place in our hearts is not only a way to nurture those relationships but also a way to create lasting memories and meaningful connections.

When we surround ourselves with loved ones, we not only enrich our lives but also theirs.

So, take a moment to reflect on the people who mean the most to you and make an effort to spend quality time with them.

After all, the bonds we create and the memories we share with others are what truly matter in the end.

📚 This newsletter was brought to you by Shortform

I never imagined that I would enjoy reading book summaries.

But ShortForm quickly convinced me otherwise.

I used Short Form to get a detailed breakdown of several books like This is Marketing by Seth Godin, The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber, Think Again by Adam Grant, and many others, which they not only summarised but also built on ideas and gave practical tips.

Instead of simply summarising the book, they expand on its themes and increase its value.

“ShortForm” is like book summaries on steroids. SERIOUSLY!

The best part is that it will give you access to thousands of book guides for the price of one book a month.

It's definitely worth checking out.
