🙅‍♂️ You don't want to make this mistake!

Hello ,

Whenever people ask me what the best book I’ve ever read is, I always respond with atomic habits. Not only did this book make me more productive than ever, but it also taught me how easy it is to change your life.

There’s a story from the book I love that talks about something that paralyses many of us from succeeding in our lives: perfection. If you’ve read the book before, then you may be familiar with the story.

But if you haven’t, enjoy.

One day, a professor at the University of Florida named Jerry Uelsmann split his film photography students into two groups on the first day of class.

He told them that everyone on the left side of the classroom would be in the "quantity" group. Each of them would only be graded on how much work they created. On the last day of class, he would add up how many photographs each student had submitted.

One hundred pictures would get an A, ninety pictures would get a B, eighty pictures would get a C, and so on. Basically, the more they made, the better their grade.

On the other hand, all of those to the right of the room would be considered the "quality" group. Their grade would depend only on the quality of their work.

During the semester, they only had to make one picture, but for an A, it had to be almost perfect.

When the semester was over, he was shocked to find that the quantity group had produced all of the best photos.

Throughout the semester, these students were constantly snapping photos, trying new approaches to composition and lighting in the darkroom, and honing their skills through trial and error.

By making hundreds of pictures, they improved their skills. Meanwhile, the quality group just sat there and thought about what perfection would be like.

They just ended up with unproven theories and an average photograph.

What this story shows us is the difference between planning and taking action.

Planning is good, but it doesn't produce results on its own. Taking action, on the other hand, is what leads to outcomes.

Sometimes we get stuck in planning and learning because it feels like progress without the risk of failure. But real progress comes from taking action, not just preparing.

If you want to master a habit, build a following, or start a business, the key is to start with repetition, not perfection.

You don't need to plan every detail; you just need to get started.

📙 BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK.

Quiet by Susan Cain

A while ago, I came across a book by Susan Cain about introverts, and it felt like she was speaking directly to me.

While the book had some academic parts that were a bit tough to get, the main message was crystal clear – introverts have their own unique strengths.

Introverts should read this book because it celebrates our traits and helps us understand and value ourselves more. It's like a guide to accepting introversion in a world that often overvalues extroversion.

Here are three takeaways from the book:

1. Accept Your Introversion: Cain's book tells you to accept your introverted personality. If you're an introvert, understand that it's not a disadvantage but a unique trait.

Know that being an introvert has benefits, like the ability to think deeply, understand others, and listen well. It's okay to be yourself.

2. Value quiet places: Cain stresses how important it is for introverts to have peace and quiet. Set aside time every day to be by yourself, whether it is to think, be creative, or recharge.

Basically, create environments that allow you to thrive.

3. Effective Communication: The book talks about how introverts are great at having deep, one-on-one conversations.

You can put this knowledge to good use by prioritising the development of deep, sincere relationships with other people.

4. Collaborate and Lead Differently: The book also talks about how introverts can use their unique qualities to be good leaders and team players.

In your relationships, think about how you can set a good example, encourage teamwork, and make spaces that are welcoming to people with different personalities.

5. Self-Advocacy and Self-Care: "Quiet" supports introverts taking care of themselves and speaking up for their needs.

Know when you need to take a break and recharge, and do not be shy about telling other people about it. In a world that often values extraversion, see your introversion as a strength.
