🐘 The Elephant and the rope

Hello ,

The story I am about to share with you is probably among the most impactful ones I have ever read.

So one day, a man was walking by some elephants when, all of a sudden, he stopped. He could not understand why these huge animals were being held by just a small rope around their front legs. There were no chains or cages.

Even though it was clear that the elephants could free themselves at any time, they chose not to.

When he saw a trainer nearby, he asked why the animals were just standing there and not trying to get away. The trainer replied, “Well, when they were very young and small, we tied them up with the same size rope, and that was enough to hold them.

But as they got older, they were conditioned to believe they couldn’t break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

The man was amazed. These animals could break free from their ropes at any time, but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.

The lesson of the story is that many people are stuck in life because of the beliefs and limits they put on themselves.

Just as the elephants in the story could easily break free from the small ropes that held them but didn't do so because they believed they couldn't, people often limit themselves based on false beliefs and assumptions.

That is why we need to think about these limiting beliefs and see that we have the power to break free from them and reach our goals.

This story shows how important it is to believe in yourself and know that you can get through tough situations if you know your strengths and potential.

📙 BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK.

Can't hurt me by David Goggins

Of all the books I have read, this is by far among the most raw and eye-opening. I listened to the audiobook version, which is available on Aubible, last year.

And what I loved about the audio version compared to the book is that it came with a podcast, so you’ll feel even more immersed in the experience. He took the whole personal development space to a different level for me. Here are 5 takeaways from the book:

1. Embrace the Uncomfortable: David's story shows how discomfort can change your life. You need to go beyond just leaving your comfort zone; you need to actively seek challenges.

By choosing to go through pain, you develop mental toughness, resilience, and a strong belief in your own abilities.

2. Resilience is Your Superpower: Goggins' story shows how strong the human spirit can be. It reminds us that bad things will happen in life, but we can choose how to deal with them.

We learn from his experiences that being resilient is not something you are born with, but something you can learn. It is about not giving up when things go wrong and using setbacks as opportunities to grow.

3. Master Your Mind: One of the main ideas of the book is that the mind has unlimited potential. "The 40% Rule" by David shows that we often only use a small part of our true potential.

By mastering your mind, you can unlock hidden reserves of strength, determination, and perseverance. To do this, you have to face your inner demons, deal with past traumas, and learn to stop talking badly to yourself.

4. Setting Big Goals: By setting high goals and taking on problems that seem impossible to solve, you not only push yourself to your limits but also learn new skills. The sense of accomplishment that comes from doing things like this can help you keep going, even when things are hard.

5. Personal Accountability Is Important: David's story shows how important it is to be responsible for your actions. You are in charge of your decisions, actions, and, in the end, the path your life takes.

Holding yourself responsible gives you power over your life and makes positive changes that last. This means acknowledging your weaknesses, facing your fears, and taking ownership of your personal growth.
