😱 Here’s a simple hack to overcome fear in 5 seconds!
Jul 08, 2023 3:31 pm
Ever felt stuck in a loop of overthinking and second guessing yourself? You're not alone.
Now, a lot of you may not know this, but I am a naturally shy and quiet person.
Since I was a little boy, I have always been this way. When I have to introduce myself to new people, especially girls, I get nervous.
So, this method I am going to share with you to overcome your fears is something I wish I had known when I was younger; then, I would have been more brave, confident, and active in pursuing the things that were closest to my heart.
We can break out of our cycle of worry and overthinking with the "5 Second Rule," a method developed by best-selling author Mel Robbins.
Here's how it works: When you get the urge to do something, count backward from five to one, like this
5-4-3-2-1!
And then just do it. Simple as that.
Why does this work? Overthinking can cause us to hesitate because we want to avoid discomfort. The countdown is like a quick start button that skips this hesitation.
I have used it by speaking up to a stranger, which was hard for me to do before. I count down from five, and as soon as I get to zero, I stand up and talk to them.
There is no time for making excuses or thinking twice.
You can use this to help you wake up in the morning, eat healthier, or go to the gym.
This will give you the confidence to make the positive changes in your life that you have always wanted to make.
When you are having trouble making a decision, give the 5-second rule a shot. It is simple yet effective.
📙BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK
How to win friends and influence people
This book is a timeless classic about how people interact with each other. It can help you get along better with people at work and in your personal life.
For someone who didn’t have the slightest clue on how to make friends, this book was kind of a revelation for me.
Here are six important takeaways from the book.
a. Arguments lead nowhere.
I have learned that arguing only makes both sides mad, so I do not do it. Instead, I try to see things from the other person's point of view. This helps me understand and solve the problem.
b. Smiles are Free but Priceless.
Recently, I have found myself smiling more often. It brightens the room and makes people feel at ease around me, and it makes me feel better, of course.
c. Listen.
People like to be heard, so I have started to focus more on listening than talking. Active listening shows that I care about what they have to say and helps me get something out of a conversation.
d. Remember their names.
I have started using the trick of remembering and using people's names in conversation. It is a simple and powerful way to make someone feel important and respected.
e. Embrace Empathy.
I have reduced criticising, condemning, or complaining. Instead, I work on understanding and empathy, which helps me build stronger relationships.
f. Be interested.
I am getting more and more interested in other people's lives, experiences, and interests. This genuine interest makes them feel valued and helps me build stronger relationships.

Millionaire "Don't invest your savings, do this instead" | Ali Abdaal
The video by Ali Abdaal talks about how to get ahead financially. He compiles several lessons from interviews he has had with financially successful people. Really valuable stuff.
Here’s a summary of the video:
First rule: Rather than buying passive stock market index funds like the S&P 500, invest in yourself and your own ability to make money.
Second rule: aspiring business owners can gain invaluable experience by joining a small company or a startup.
Third rule: the value of thinking outside the box and exploring other options to reach one's objectives.
Fourth rule: Focusing on lead generation and efficient distribution is more important than merely improving the product itself if you want your business to succeed.
Fifth rule: If you want extraordinary results, you have to be willing to put in extraordinary effort.
