🎨 LIFE LESSON OF THE WEEK
Let me share with you a lesson my dad taught me—a lesson that has the potential to transform your relationships with people. It's a simple story, but its impact is profound.
One day, my dad was preparing to leave town for an important meeting. I was deep in my work, like editing a script, when I heard a soft knock on my door. I opened it, thinking it was my dad saying goodbye before he left.
Well, it turns out that he had already left, and by that, I mean he was already in the car on his way out of town when he realized that he hadn’t said goodbye to me. Without giving it a second thought, he turned around and drove all the way back home to say goodbye to me properly before leaving again.
I discovered a remarkable lesson about the significance of small gestures through that seemingly unremarkable action. What my dad did might not seem like much at first, but that is the beauty of it: it does not have to be big to be important.
You see, you do not have to give someone expensive gifts, throw expensive parties, or take them to fancy resorts to show how much you appreciate them. Of course, if you have the means and the desire to do so, go ahead.
However, it is often the little things that matter the most. For example, giving a sincere compliment, really listening when they talk, and even turning the car around to say goodbye properly are all small things that can mean a lot to someone.
What my dad's action taught me is that how much we care for and appreciate someone is not based on how big the gesture is, but on how sincere and thoughtful it is.
So, the next time you want to show someone you care, remember that sometimes the smallest things can make their day.
📙 BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK
Building a StoryBrand by Donald Miller
I recently finished "Building a StoryBrand" by Donald Miller on Audible, and this book is like a marketing makeover using storytelling magic.
It's all about making your brand message clear by becoming the guide to your customers' hero journey.
If you are interested in learning about marketing, and storytelling, you need this book. Here are five takeaways from it:
- Speak Clearly.
Think of the message behind your brand as a story. Imagine you are the guide, and your customer (the hero) is on a journey.
Make sure your message is crystal clear, so they can understand what you are all about right away.
- Solve Real Problems.
Do not just talk about your products; instead, focus on the problems your customers are having.
What keeps them up all night? Be the hero who saves them and makes their lives easier by solving their problems.
- Keep It Simple.
Imagine you're giving them a map with clear steps. Make it easy to understand and follow.
Show them the path they will take with your brand, from the problem they are having to the happy solution.
- Cheer on your customers.
Think of them as the main characters in their own stories.
Your brand isn't the star here; you're the trusty sidekick who empowers them to overcome challenges and shine.
- Storytelling Magic.
Imagine you're telling a captivating tale around a campfire.
Craft your brand story with relatable characters: the customer as the hero, their problem as the villain, and you as the wise guide leading them to victory.
