๐Ÿ’ A priceless lesson from monkeys!

Hey ,

Have you heard of this well-known trap that hunters use to capture monkeys?

So what they do is get a coconut, cut a hole in it, and pour out everything inside.

They make the hole in such a way that if the monkey's hand is open, it can fit through.

But if it's a closed fist, it can't. Then, to attract the monkey, they put some kind of fruit inside the coconut, tie the coconut to a tree, and then wait.

What happens next is very fascinating.

The monkey sticks his hand into the coconut, and it tries to pull the fruit out, but it can't because its hand is closed.

When the monkey sees the hunter coming, it tries even harder to get the fruit out, but it can't, and it gets caught.

But you see, the monkey would have been free if it had just opened its hand and let go.

Now, before you judge the monkey, think about what your coconut is.

What are you holding on to that is no longer serving you and would set you free if you just let go of it?

Is it an unhealthy relationship, bad habits, negative thoughts, or something else?

No matter what it is, if it costs you your happiness, freedom, and peace of mind, you've got to let it go because it's really not worth it.

๐Ÿ“š BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK.

The dip by Seth Godin

I just finished reading Seth Godinโ€™s book, The Dip, a book that teaches you when to stick and when to quit. I didnโ€™t really think Iโ€™d learn much from it, but it turns out to be the perfect book I need for where Iโ€™m at right now. It was a game-changer for knowing when to give up and when to keep going. Here are five takeaways from it.

  1. The Dip is Natural: Godin says that in any pursuit, there is a "dip"โ€”a period of struggle and setbacks that separates beginners from experts. It is important to spot the dip because that is when most people give up. But it is also where the potential for success lies.
  2. It is Okay to Quit (Sometimes): Godin says that quitting does not always mean you have failed. In fact, it can be a smart move for your strategy. If you are in a dead-end job or a situation that will not help you grow, you can save your energy and focus on better opportunities by quitting.
  3. Be the Best or Quit: If you want to do something, the book says, try to be the best at it. This means you have to be determined and keep going through the low point. But if you can not commit to being the best, you might be better off quitting and putting your time and energy somewhere else.
  4. Persistence vs. Stubbornness: Godin emphasises the difference between being persistent and being stubborn. Persistence means keeping at a goal even when it is hard, while stubbornness means not giving up even when it does not make sense. Knowing when to persist and when to quit is crucial.
  5. Success Often Requires Strategic Quitting: To be successful, you often need to quit the right things at the right time. Godin tells his readers to think about their goals and decide if they should keep going through the dip or give up. Making this choice on purpose can lead to bigger and better things in the long run.

Overall, "The Dip" shows that it is important to know when to keep going and when to give up. It also shows that quitting can be a powerful tool for success if it is done right.
