📙 What I learned from 60+ days of Journaling

Hey ,

So a couple of months ago, I made a decision to start journaling, and it went on for over 60 days. Here are three things I learned from it:

1. It actually improves your mental health

I used to think that thinking about my thoughts and feelings would help me work through them, but it didn't.

I made matters worse. 😅

But by writing things down, I was able to get them off my mind, get the clarity I needed, see what the problem was, and solve it.

2. It makes you so self-aware.

I always thought I knew a lot about myself, but keeping a journal showed me that I didn't.

Honestly speaking, writing out my thoughts kind of felt like I was getting to know myself for the first time.

The best part about keeping a journal is that it forces you to be completely honest and introspective.

3. It can reduce your stress.

I've been stressed out a few times in the last 30 days, and journaling has literally saved me.

Writing down your thoughts can help you deal with stress because it helps you figure out what's causing it and how to fix it.

Even if you don't find a solution, writing makes it less stressful.

What have been your experiences with journaling?

If you've never done it before, you've got to try it for at least a week and see the maaaaaaaad benefits! Trust me, you won't regret it.

📒 Shortform Summary

I recently read the one-page summary of How to Talk to Anyone by Leil Lowndes on Shortform. It is a classic book on communication and making friends.

Here’s part of the Shortform introduction, after which they give a chapter-by-chapter summary:

In How to Talk to Anyone, communications expert and bestselling author Leil Lowndes presents practical techniques to help you overcome social discomfort, make a great first impression, and confidently develop new social and professional connections.

In this guide, we'll first explain the secret to getting people to want to talk to you. Then, we'll explore Lowndes's techniques for skillfully approaching and conversing with anyone in three parts:

  • Part 1: Nonverbal signals--make a positive first impression: explains how to make yourself appear more approachable and likable to those around you.
  • Part 2: Verbal signals-create instant rapport and discusses how to approach and comfortably start a conversation with anyone you want to talk to.
  • Part 3: Verbal Signals--encourage meaningful conversations and explores how to build trust and develop an emotional connection with the people you choose to engage with.

Shortform is a great place to go if you want to quickly get the gist of a book or try out a book before you commit to reading it cover to cover.
