😱 This simple thing can change your life!
Jun 03, 2023 4:06 pm
Hey .
Can you believe that something as simple as a change in the questions we ask can help us make big changes in our lives?
When asked in the right way, every question has the power to give a situation meaning, move us toward the future we want, and set the course of our lives.
Think about it: When something bad happens, what questions do you ask yourself right away? Aren’t they the self-defeating ones such as, "Why is life being so unfair to me?", "Why can't I ever get it right?" or "Why does everything seem so daunting?"
These questions may seem harmless, but their negative nature stops people from growing. By focusing on the problem and not the possible solutions, they keep us in a cycle of hopelessness.
We don't always realize that the questions we ask in life usually lead us right to the answers we're looking for. To put it simply, a bad question leads to a bad answer, a good question leads to a good answer, and a question with a lot of depth can lead to life-changing answers.
So, instead of giving in to the temptation of self-pitying questions when facing problems, try these:
"How do I get out of this situation?"
"When was the last time I overcame a similar problem, and how did I do it?"
"Who can help me right now?"
"What can I do to change how I approach this problem?"
These empowering, open-ended questions help you think of good solutions, boost your confidence, and help you get over obstacles.
A famous author named Edward Hodnett once said, "If you don't ask the right questions, you don’t get the right answers. A question asked in the right way often points to its own answer. Asking questions is the ABC of diagnosis. Only the inquiring mind solves problems.”
No matter what we're going through, we should always try to ask empowering questions to get empowering answers to help us solve our problems.
If someone hurts you, instead of asking, "What's wrong with that person?" ask, "How can I stop them from hurting me again?" If you make a mistake, don't ask, "Why am I so stupid?" Instead, ask, "How can I fix this?"
Being aware of the questions you ask yourself can have a big impact on your life. So start asking yourself the right questions today, and see where they lead you.
📙 BOOK RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK:
The Almanack of Naval Ravikant
The Almanack of Naval Ravikant was such a great book. It is a collection of the lessons Naval Ravikant, an entrepreneur and angel investor, has learned and the things he has done in his life and work.
I listened to the audiobook just over a year ago, and I plan to listen to it again soon. Here are five important things I learned from the book:
- The Importance of Happiness: One of Naval's main ideas is that happiness is a skill that can be developed with practice and intention. It comes once we learn to control our response to external factors and internal mental chatter.
- Wealth Creation is for Everyone: Naval says that anyone can become wealthy, which he defines as having assets that make money while you sleep. Wealth isn't about working hard, it's about working smart, knowing the right things, and having leverage.
- Follow Your Real Intellectual Curiosity: He says you should follow your own interests instead of what's popular or profitable. In the long run, this genuine pursuit can often lead to more success and happiness.
- The Power of Specific Knowledge: Naval emphasizes that you can find specific knowledge by following your curiosity and passion. It can't be taught, but it is easy to learn. Specific knowledge often doesn’t feel like work because you love it so much.
- Play Long-Term games with Long-Term people: All returns in life, whether in money, relationships, or knowledge, come from compound interest. This means you should focus on long-term goals, work with people who will be important in the long run, and keep building on your successes.

Summary:
In this episode, Tom Bilyeu is joined by the legendary and famous trainer Tim Grover. He has coached legends like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, and more. He also wrote Relentless, which was one of the most eye-opening books I've ever read.
When you think about your business, your career, and your personal life, where are you winning and where are you losing? Whether or not you view life as a game, there is a price to pay if you want to achieve success and greatness. If you're serious about winning, you'll be inspired by the harsh truths Tim reveals here.
What you’ll learn:
What winning is and why you need to know how to lose to win
The difference between flaws and weaknesses
How to leverage and identify your weaknesses to get better
Why not pursuing or seeing the wins every day is an illness
How winning plays a role in increasing confidence
And more.
Some deep quotes from the episode:
“Everybody wants to win, but in order to know how to win, you have to know how to lose, because you're going to lose more than you're going to win.”
“You got to love the process. I agree with that, but I also kind of disagree with that because to me, you have to do the process. The process is a non-negotiable thing. The end result is not always there. That win isn't always there”
