🤯 This Perspective shift made me more content than ever.

Hey , today I want to share a perspective shift that has made me more content than ever.

I have lived in Nigeria for most of my life.

I grew up in a small town in the Northern part of the country.

A very peaceful and quiet place to live.

However, something I have seen a lot of in this town and many others around the country is poverty.

Abject poverty.

I have seen people work in tough conditions and do things most of us would never think of doing just to get one meal or to feed their families for that day.

Throughout the day, you can see people going through the trash, looking for food that has been thrown away or anything of value that they can trade for some cash.

In fact, not far from our apartment, I noticed an uncompleted building, and I was shocked when I realised one day that there were people living in it.

The building has no windows, no doors, no light, no water—nothing!

Most of us can not even imagine living in such conditions. But that is how many people here live with their families. That is where they call home.

Now, the perspective shift that made me more content than ever was this, no matter what your situation is like right now, ā€œit could have been worse.ā€

Almost every time I go through a tough day or rough time, I remind myself that there is someone out there going through something worse.

Right now, you could be having a hard time, and as tempting as it may be to complain about it and be bitter or blame someone, remember that you’re actually better off than most.

And I’m not saying this to dismiss your pain or struggle.

I am sharing this to remind you and me that even on our worst days, there’s always something to be grateful for, and there is someone out there worse off than us.

So, no matter what your situation is right now, never forget that ā€œit could have been worse!ā€
