Howdy ,

This is your polite reminder to come to No Typewriters / No Talking this Wednesday.

In case you forgot what you RSVP'd for, here are the details again:

When: 7:00pm – 8:30pm Wednesday 19 July

Where: Tempo Rubato, 34 Breese St, Brunswick, 3056

There are still spots available, so please

• share the session on your socials,
• mercillessly bully your friends into coming*, and/or
• start a chain email with anyone who you think might be interested.

What to expect

As per the name of the group you can expect at least two things: no typewriters and no talking.

What to bring

• Something to write with/on. It could be a biro on notepad, fingers on laptop, quill on vellum — anything you want, just not a gosh darn typewriter (laptops are okay!)

What not to bring

• Your typewriter
• Talking points, conversation topics, and/or a loquacious attitude

What will be provided

• A table to rest your writing implements on
• A chair to rest yourself on
• Water and various receptacles to hold said water
• A prompt for you to write about (if you don't have anything you are currently working on)

When you arrive

• One of our team will greet you
• Make sure your phones are off/on silent
• Come in. There will be some posters with information at the front of Tempo Rubato. Read 'em
• If you want, grab a drink from the bar
• No talking after 7:30. Seriously
• Do some writing of the words
• Our team will let you know when the time is up

Make sure you know how to get to Tempo Rubato to avoid the embarrassment of stumbling in late.

What happens after?

When the session is over, the No Typewriters / No Talking Team will let you know. The bar at Tempo will be open and we can stay there to, dare we say it, talk.

You don't have to stick around, but if you'd like to chat this is the time to do so**.

** It’s perfectly fine to come in, sit down, start writing, realise what you’re writing is complete cactus, push through, write some more, think to yourself “actually, that’s pretty okay”, look up, realise there’s only 5 more minutes of silent writing time left, scribble a few cursory notes to yourself, and then leave. All without saying a peep.
