Dear Nigerians in Nova Scotia and the wider diaspora,
The Association of Nigerians in Nova Scotia (ANNS) is currently
exploring an important community initiative known as the Nigerian Village
- a proposed cultural and housing hub that will serve Nigerians and other
African newcomers in the province.
As part of this initiative, ANNS intends to apply to the Research &
Innovation stream of the Community Housing Transformation Centre
to conduct a Housing Needs Study focused on the Nigerian community in
Nova Scotia.
The purpose of this research will be to better understand the housing
realities of Nigerians in the province and to identify ways the non-profit
housing sector can respond more effectively. The findings will also help guide
the long-term planning of the Nigerian Village project.
To support this effort, ANNS is inviting Nigerian researchers, academics,
policy analysts, and experienced professionals with research
backgrounds to submit a Letter of Interest to lead or collaborate on this
study.
Researchers selected for this work may be involved in:
- Designing the research methodology
- Leading or co-leading the study
- Conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups
- Analyzing data and preparing findings
- Producing a final report with practical recommendations
- Engaging with potential non-profit housing partners
We welcome expressions of interest from individuals with experience in fields
such as:
- Housing studies
- Urban planning
- Public policy
- Sociology or community studies
- Migration and settlement research
- Social development or related areas
Researchers based in Nova Scotia, elsewhere in Canada, or in the
Nigerian diaspora are encouraged to apply. Collaborative proposals
involving more than one researcher are also welcome.
How to Express Interest
Interested researchers should send a short Letter of Interest (1–2 pages) that includes:
- A brief introduction and background
- Relevant research experience
- Any previous work related to housing, community development, or
- immigrant settlement
- A short note on how you might approach this research
- Your CV or professional profile (optional but encouraged)
Submissions should be sent to [email protected] by
Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Shortlisted researchers may be invited to participate in a brief discussion with ANNS to explore the project further.
This study will help provide the knowledge needed to shape future housing solutions for Nigerians and other African newcomers in Nova Scotia. We believe there is strong research talent within our community, and we welcome the opportunity to work with those who are interested in contributing their expertise.
Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Warm regards,
Executive Team
Association of Nigerians in Nova Scotia (ANNS)
