Hello and welcome to this week's instalment of Not Entirely Here.

Here are the four topics we're covering today:

  1. Welcome to new subscribers
  2. Quarantine // Self-Isolation
  3. Free books! Lots and lots of free books!
  4. Quick summary of free Emily Voss stories

Here we go...

Welcome to New Subscribers

I don't normally do this, but there are so many of you this week. I've never seen my list grow so fast and I am really happy to have you reading this.

Many of you have arrived by virtue of a shared promotion I joined last week, and you're going to see that same promotion mirrored below, as I let the rest of my list know that these free books are available. These cross-promotions are great because they help readers find new voices that you might (or might not) enjoy reading.

For those of you just joining, and those of you who don't know yet - here is what you're likely to encounter if you read my fiction:

  • The Emily Voss series, a sequence of novellas about a kick-ass female exorcist in New York city
  • The World of Skills series - a set of much shorter stories about a couple of insurance investigators trying to piece together crimes committed by people with powers. These are unpublished at the moment and likely to be free to Patreon subscribers. I'm looking for a couple of beta readers if you're interested (hit reply)
  • A full-length novel set in the present day, on the subject of time travel, which I'm super excited about and roughly halfway through
  • Occasional short stories that I print/publish through various channels as a way of thanking people who follow me for taking the time to read my work

All my work is speculative fiction - some of it science fiction, some of it fantasy, and very occasionally a little horror thrown in.

Quarantine // Self-Isolation

I live in London, in the United Kingdom, and I just got back here from France. As a consequence, I'm subject to 14 days of self-isolation or I shall be most severely scolded by the authorities. I believe there's also a fine.

Time will tell if not being allowed to leave home increases my words-per-day, or just drives me somewhat insane. I'm hoping to be fairly productive over the coming fortnight but there's a lot of non-writing stuff to get through since I've been away for months and I have to catch up on... everything.

Free books! Lots and lots of free books!

If the reports I receive from the mailing system are to be believed, this is by far the most popular part of each email I send out.

This week I have a large selection of Paranormal-themed books for you to choose from, which you can access by clicking the button or the banner below.

I can't claim to have read them, because: so many books, but I can honestly say that "How to succeed at a job interview when you're hallucinating pixies" has to be one of the greatest book titles ever, albeit aimed at a fairly niche target market.

Quick Summary of Free Emily Voss Stories

I've got two free Emily Voss stories you can download at the moment.

The obvious one (and hopefully the one you've already read) is Past Mistakes, which is the first, full-length episode in the series. It's an introduction to Emily and a couple of other major characters, and the first step into this little universe I've enjoyed creating.

If, for some reason, you have not received a free copy of Past Mistakes, you can get one by clicking on the picture of the cover, or the button right here :

There's another free Emily Voss short floating around called "A First Time For Everything". It's not part of the series, but an extra that I put out there for people who like the series enough to keep track of my work.

You can download that by clicking here :

Emily Voss episodes 2 and 3 will be released as a set, along with episode 1, on Amazon, some time in the coming two months. I will let you know here as soon as I have a firm release date, but there are still covers to design, copyeditors to hire, and I have to get over my natural reluctance to set a story free.

In addition, more bonus stories will be written and published in the future, in various places, so follow me on Facebook, Twitter, my website, Patreon and right here to make sure you don't miss any of them.

Thanks for reading

All the best,

Nick.
