Hello from Belgium,
I'm moving around a lot at the moment, I think I've driven about 3,000 kilometers in the last 2 weeks. Yes. I know how trivial that looks when my banner is a moon orbiting a planet.
While no reviews are published yet, because they can only be published once the book is live on August 4th, I have received a couple of reviews in the ARC-management systems that manage my advance readers, and it's promising.
Hell, let's be honest, I'm thrilled.
Let me share a couple of quotes:
With hints of Buffy and Constantine, this book hit all the right notes, building suspense, working through plot points to reveal enough to keep the reader interested without giving it all away [...] you are left feeling that this is a solid start to a hopefully long and successful series.

That was the second review to arrive. The comparisons I got back when I published the first three chapters were Kat Drummond and Dresden Files. Now I get to add Constantine and Buffy.
This feels good. On the one hand I'm a fan of Constantine, and on the other I'm a fan of that Buffy-era voice, and I like to think that Emily Voss exists in that register, but with a darker and less frivolous context.
[...] the kind of thing I would love to see turned into a series or movie because it's so fascinating and intricate [...] the first time I've purposefully put a book down several times just to make the story last longer because I knew that I would be sad to see it end [...] It's a fascinating plot with so many unique additions that I truly didn't know what would come next [...] Amazing read!

This was the first review I received, and I'm as humbled as I am thrilled by the feedback.
When you put pen to paper, you hope your characters or story resonate with someone. If I've achieved that for some readers, however few they may be, I'm very grateful they let me know.
How fast can you read? If you want a copy, it's at the link below, and all you have to do is commit to writing a review on or shortly after August 4th, and you get the book (all 400+ pages of it) for free.
Not up for a review deadline? No problem. Past Mistakes goes live on August 4th, and you can pre-order it here for $2.99, or read it free on Kindle Unlimited.
And again: Many thanks for your support!
Nick.

Fragile Little Songbird by Winter Banford
Angels and demons walk among humans, protecting them from themselves and each other.
But some humans want their power. Wren and her father had been minding their business when an explosion of hellfire from a botched ritual summoning killed dozens of people, including Wren's father. Wren herself only survives because of an angel's blessing in the form of a golden feather. It's too bad it catches the attention of demons.
Wren never wanted to be part of the supernatural world, but humans dragged her into it anyway. She only wants to recover from the explosion, but demons have sniffed out her angel's blessing and want it. They come after her for it, especially a woman named Leona.
How far will the demons go for the feather? Can Wren even protect herself from them when they're so much stronger than her?
