Hello from London,

To those of you with the attention span to follow my narrative from week to week, I was unwell last week and arranged for a COVID-19 test. After sticking a sample swab far further down my throat and up my nose than I'm comfortable describing, I received a negative test result (yay!). Who said you needed to have coronavirus to feel like you've been hit by a truck? We have seasonal flu for that!

After almost four days in bed, I was back on my feet (if a little unsteady) and I can safely say that a week later, everything now appears to be going fine. I have kids in school so I should have about twelve days of peace before one of them brings the next virus into the house.

It's a great time to be alive!

On a more positive and grateful note, several of you broke the reader equivalent of the fourth wall and reached out to me when you read that I was sick. Thank you for that. We don't really know each other, but it was strangely and quite profoundly heartening to get those messages.

I hope I got around to answering each and every one of you, but I wasn't in great shape at the time so if I failed to reply, please accept my apologies, it was not intentional.

On to the main course...

Author Spotlight

imageIntroducing Kat Stiles...

Or perhaps you already know her? She is somewhat more established than I am, with quite a few (short, serialized) published works to her name. She's also very friendly over email and her books have nicer covers than mine.

Her work is slightly sexier, quite a bit ruder, more lighthearted, involves more references to sex and seems to garner a large number of positive reviews.

As a point of entry into her work, you might consider Modified, which is downloadable from Amazon and was free when I checked a few minutes ago. You can also go there by clicking on the book image.

Book Giveaway

In the spirit of helping you find books you like, you'll find a giveaway below where a large number are available to download for free. The theme is speculative fiction, which is my own chosen genre. Take a look and grab a copy of what looks good to you!

These authors, like me, give work away that took time and energy to write, to give readers a chance to decide if they like what they're reading. So if you like what you read, sign up to their newsletters, find ways to support them and let them know. Seriously, it's important.
