News! Emily Voss Series Episodes 2 and 3 Almost Ready...
If you're reading this, then there's a good chance you've read my first Emily Voss story, since you should have received it for free when you signed up. If you didn't receive a copy please get in touch by replying to this message and I'll send it to you.
Hopefully, since you have not unsubscribed, it was something you enjoyed.
I'm happy to announce that I've finished parts 2 and 3, and hope to release the first three episodes together as a short novel in the not-too-distant future.
My to-do list on the subject still has a few items outstanding.
I need my copyeditor to go through it one last time to reposition a couple of errant commas, remove some double-spaces, add a paragraph break or two, things like that. I need a new cover, too. Most importantly, I need a couple of beta-readers to take a look. There's always the risk something's wrong with the story and, because I'm too close to it, I can't see it..
I have a couple of trusted friends I rely on for this, but it would be useful to me to have one or two more readers, so - if, (and only if), you have read Past MIstakes, and would like to get a free copy of the pre-publication draft of Emily Voss episodes 2 and 3, all I ask in return is a short (but thoughtful) feedback email to me. I've only got room for one or two people - please don't take it the wrong way if I've no longer any copies left to hand out!
What's Your Favourite Science Fiction?
While my current project is urban fantasy, I've also written some science fiction in the past and it's a genre I'm extremely close to and fond of.
In a recent article on my blog I wrote about how to find good science fiction to write, and which books I think are entry points or unmissable monuments for a new(ish) reader. In it I list a number of my favourite authors and, if I could go back in time, which books I'd tell myself to read first.
You can check it out here: How to find good science fiction.

I hope you're all well, and that, wherever you are, the world is gradually returning to something resembling normallity. Whatever that is.
Nick.
