Is there a better time than now?

Evening ,

The sun is out here this arv. Overnight was kinda chilly and when I looked out front just after six this morning, there was frost on the grass.

How lovely is Spring right? 🌸

Earlier this morning I met up with a former team mate over a coffee. The time was just a joy.

We always have plenty of stories to tell, a bit of reflection and some mutual enjoyment/appreciation of the work we did together. I'll often think of what we learned about managing and leading people at what was a pretty formative time in my career.

After this catch up, which felt like it passed in two minutes but was very clearly longer, I was reflecting on our individual and also what I believe to be shared strengths. I was also thinking about the impact of their strengths in particular (some very very solid relationship building and execution strengths) on other people we had worked with, both the franchise group and the teams we were a part of.

I also left thinking, geez I wish I'd had these insights into talent DNA back earlier in my career 🧐🧐. Of course with Intellection as my No.2 strength, I'm going to do a bit of that processing right, spinning the thoughts and reflections around. I love it, but sometimes it's also grrrrr.

But it also reminded me of the expression "it is always now" and that there's little merit in the throw back to the early 2000s (especially when I sometimes wonder why the hell did I work NYE with those Y2K fears?) other than to appreciate what I can learn.

What I do see as I briefly look back, is when time passed in flow, or when my work at the time was having great impact, or the people I worked with were achieving ripper things together and growing and how it is evidence of my strengths or theirs in action.

Connecting the dots.

Solving tricky people issues with empathy and care.

Loving seeing others grow and develop.

Yep. That's definitely the way to look at it.

After this reflection I felt to reach out to folks and let them know that actually there is no better time to learn about their unique talent DNA than now.

Right where they are. In what they're doing right now.

I've invited people to drop me a message in LinkedIn when I posted this video this arv.

Absolutely hoping I'll get a few audio and video ones though as most of you would know I love an audio message 🤭, so I can open up conversations.

Can you imagine building great language around your unique talents? Knowing when they're in play and then deliberately pointing those strengths at the work and with the people that you work with right now.

How impactful could that be for you?

So I'd put this call out to you also. If you've not taken the time so far in your career to look into your strengths, to give a name to them and to understand where to point them, I'd love to chat to you about that. I can help here.

Feel free to drop me a line, an audio or video message on LinkedIn or actually we could also kick it old school and just chat on the phone.
