Dearest Seeker,

A warm welcome back to you—and a soft curtsy from me. It's been a quiet stretch in our correspondence, and while no excuses will be made, I offer this: I have returned, heart aglow, with magic to share and a newly lit fire.

We are going way back in time—before tarot, fortune-telling parlors, and velvet cloths—back to when a simple deck of playing cards, carried from Egypt, held the secrets of the cosmos.

This was no standard game. It was an infinite calendar created by the Egyptian mystics (yes, the very 'Gypsies' you may have heard whispers of) to mark the rhythm of the sun, the seasons, and the soul's turning.

And so, on this sacred turning of the wheel—the Summer Solstice, holy day of the Sun—we begin anew. Mystical Mondays rise again, reborn in fire and rhythm.

Each week, we will walk the path of the playing card that governs it, starting with the card that marks the first week of Summer: the Ace of Clubs.

Shall we begin?

The Hidden Clock of the Cards

Long before tarot cards danced across secret parlor tables with hushed voices, the humble playing card deck was already whispering its secrets:

• 52 cards = 52 weeks
• 4 suits = 4 seasons
• 13 cards per suit = 13 weeks in each season

It was a calendar above all else! But patterns began to emerge, and people started assigning cards to events and situations.

Hearts = Spring, Feminine, Passive, Starts

Clubs = Summer, Masculine, Aggressive, Movement

Diamonds = Autumn, Feminine, Passive, Harvest

Spades = Winter, Masculine, Aggressive, Stillness

This week begins the Season of Clubs: fire, ambition, and soul-lit action. The soil has been reawakened, and the seeds have been planted in the Spring; now is the time for passion and action to grow.

As we whisper to our garden, 'Grow, grow, grow', so must we.

The first week of the season always starts with an Ace, and thus we find ourselves with:

The Ace of Clubs — A Spark

This first week of summer is the Ace of Clubs, the original match-strike moment. It doesn't demand. It invites.

The Ace says:

Something wants to begin. Will you let it?

The Club suit in cartomancy is associated with fire, energy, enterprise, and desire.

These are the cards of ambition, initiative, and willpower. Where the suit of Hearts tends the emotional soil, Clubs ignite it. When this suit appears, it speaks of what we do with our passion.

In elemental terms, Clubs correspond with fire—and not just any fire, but the bold blaze of the sun signs: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.

This is a masculine suit—decisive, assertive, outward. The Ace of Clubs is no gentle flicker, but a flare. It is the raw, unfiltered force of creation.

It’s often linked to fertility, virility, and the surge of courage that precedes every meaningful action.

It’s not subtle—the Ace of Wands, its tarot reflection, is a phallic symbol, unapologetically alive.

The Ace of Clubs, in particular, is often interpreted as:

• The birth of a new idea or enterprise
• A flash of motivation or courage
• An opportunity or encounter that sets things in motion
• An invitation to act, not ponder

Tarot echoes this through the Ace of Wands, where we see a hand emerging from the clouds, offering a flowering wand.

But remember—the tarot pips came after the playing cards. The Ace of Clubs is the grandmother flame, the original spark.

It is potential without pressure—the first breath before movement. Honor the spark, however it arrives. It may come through a dream, a stranger's comment, or a sudden urge to begin again.

Light it even if you don't yet know where it leads. The Ace of Wands doesn't whisper, it shouts, "You are ready! Get going!"
