It's the economy, stupid

Bonus points if you know who said it.
From Wikipedia:
"The economy, stupid" is a phrase that was coined by James Carville in 1992. It is often quoted from a televised quip by Carville as "It’s the economy, stupid." Carville was a strategist in Bill Clinton's successful 1992 presidential campaign against incumbent George H. W. Bush. His phrase was directed at the campaign's workers and intended as one of three messages for them to focus on. The others were "Change vs. more of the same" and "Don't forget health care."
If the 2024 presidential election were today, President Biden would suffer a landslide loss. Probably to #TFG (make sure you read today's blog post about his "letter" to the WSJ that those dummies actually published).
Why? Because the economy is underperforming: Slow growth coupled with what seems to be intractable inflation will eat him alive.
It's what befell Jimmy Carter back in the day. Well, that and an Iranian hostage crisis and failed rescue attempt. Sand and helicopters don't mix. Well, actually, they do, and that was the problem.
But don't fret. The economy will come roaring back when (if?) both Biden infrastructure bills become laws. The money injected into the economy should propel the economy for the next few quarters, at the very least.
And I *think* inflation will slow rapidly as soon as our supply chain challenges subside.

In other news, some kids at a Kentucky school thought it would be cool to give school staff lap dances. Obviously, the staff thought it was super, too, so it happened.
And then it all got posted on social media.
‘Disciplinary action' taken after student-staff lap dance incident, Kentucky superintendent says
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The superintendent of an Eastern Kentucky school district said “appropriate disciplinary action has been taken” after photos surfaced showing students giving lap dances to staff Tuesday as part of a high school's homecoming week.
Sondra Combs, superintendent of Hazard Independent Schools, did not specify who had been punished.
“As it is a personnel matter, we are not allowed to disclose any further information regarding the specifics of the discipline,” her statement said.
Combs said students were behind the homecoming festivities that included a “man pageant” and led to photos of students giving lap dances in their undergarments being shared on social media.
Kids, don't give your teachers free lap dances. Make sure they publicly Venmo you the money before you, ahem, service them.
IOW, CYA before you uncover your ass.

🍺 PS - Buy me a beer to keep the Daily Grind News open for business!
🍹 PPS - Better yet, buy me a cocktail. The Morning Sixpack is going on hiatus for two weeks (beginning November 1 – starting up again on November 15).
I'm going on vacation (L-O-N-G overdue). I'll be in the sun, on the beach, drinking (hopefully) fruity alcoholic beverages.
But the news won't stop, and neither will the reporting here on the site. Check out the “Top News” and the “Blog” (menu at the top) for the latest (and dare I say, “Greatest”) news stories of the day!
