It's June and we *may* have a new holiday soon
Jun 16, 2021 8:01 pm
I've been critical of the US' penchant for making nearly literally everything a holiday.
But this one is warranted.
It's Juneteenth. And it's a celebration of the end of slavery in the US. The Senate (of all places) passed it. Now we wait for the House to pass it as well and then Biden to sign it into law...
Maybe the reason it's not a holiday yet is because slavery is still rooted in the DNA of many of us.
I dunno. Just happy it's making progress.
In other news...we have some traitorous bastards in the federal government.

Here's a partial list of Benedict Arnolds in our government
The House has overwhelmingly passed legislation to award the Congressional Gold Medal to the police officers who defended the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 riots.
Lawmakers approved the award for the Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. by a vote of 406-21. All the “no” votes came from Republicans.
The 21 GOP lawmakers include ardent supporters of former President Donald Trump, some who have attempted to downplay the events of January 6 and others who have previously been linked to the QAnon conspiracy theory.
