Hours to go before we roll.
Scrambling. I'm scrambling for content. Sweating. I feel nervous. I feel inadequate. I've done this before. It's a game. We're friends. It's no big deal.
I've written down the high points, though. I have generic maps and not-too-many enemies. And I swore this time I would only prepare the minimum for fun. It's going to get shot up, torn apart, interrogated, or outright skipped as soon as we sit down to play. Sly Flourish told me it would be okay.
"Everybody has a plan until their powergamers roll two crits in a row."
That's what Tyson meant, right?
I know this friendly ally fellow is supposed to sound vaguely Irish, but what if my brogue pitches toward Scottish? How do I explain why this group of regular guys got tangled up in this hairbrained predicament?

Disbelief moans on its crucifix of eternal suspension.
What if I botch a rule? I tried to memorize 529 pages of text, but I didn't get them all down in time. I had two months, what was I doing? Working? Horrible excuse. How did I make it through college with this poor work ethic?
Gametime.
Everybody's roleplaying their characters to perfection. Yes, the rent-a-cops who tied them up are dumber than a sack of doorknobs. Who locks up suspects in the same room as their equipment? Why did they use the world's shadiest padlock? The bumbling troopers end up like Swiss cheese before long.
I forget some rules. Players help me find the correct line of action. We make some concessions. It's a hard game, and everybody's shooting, looting, and hooting.
Dice hit the table. More laughter erupts. The nerves melt away.
My tabletop roleplaying world came to life.
To future worlds,
Matt Ventre
