The world is a big casino and you have to know the odds to come out on top.
I like to think of my world as consisting of a series of bankrolls: emotional, money, spiritual, energy, time, creativity, attention.
You can think of them like stacks of neon colored poker chips in front of you on an emerald green poker table felt. When the time is right, you peel off some chips and toss them across the white line toward the Dealer.
Advantage play is a term that professional gamblers use and it means when you manage to flip the odds away from the house to your own favor. It doesn't happen often, but it happens enough that you can consistently win with the right strategy and bet sizing.

The idea is to get a good return on all of your bets.
We don't want to place big bets with high payoffs but low odds of success (sucker bets). We also don't want to place too many small bets with low odds of payoff (lottery tickets) because that will bleed us dry in a hurry.
The goal is to make medium-sized bets consistently with small, but reliable rewards and strategically place small bets that have unlimited upside. That is, if you lose, no big deal, but if you win, you're infinitely wealthy in multiple (maybe all!) of your bankrolls. While you're cashing in the small bets, you can peel off some of those chips and toss them at the bigger wins.
What's a bet? A bet can be anything that represents a degree of risk or uncertainty that requires some of your bankroll to become reality. It's a new business venture, a move, a relationship, a book, creative project, a new church or community.
It could be simply saying what you believe out loud.
Make your bet. Make your world.
To future worlds,
Matt Ventre
