Is Self-Sabotage Derailing Your Progress?

If you suffer from self-sabotage, it’s because deep down you don’t believe you deserve the good you want.


What you do today is either leading you to that goal you are looking to achieve or moving you away from it.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies but with awareness and practice, It’s possible to get out of our way.


The number one way we self-sabotage ourselves is Procrastination. We do this to avoid the temporary discomfort we feel when we are stepping out of our comfort zone or stepping out to do something unfamiliar.


In such a case, learn to set deadlines for yourself and avoid breaking your own promises.


Be okay to go through that temporary discomfort and focus on the end result instead. The end result is the positive change you want to see.

Perfectionism is the other thing that leads to self-sabotage. Sometimes we put unrealistic standards. Waiting for things to be “perfect” for you to begin something.


You have to be willing to make that small step. Make small significant changes and eventually, you will get to where you desire to be.


This is a huge one; we practice negative self-talk all day long. We keep score of negative memories, failures we have gone through, and the hurts we have endured, and all of these create fear in us to go forward. It hinders us from making that leap we so want to make.


The cure to this would be to keep practicing kindness and self-compassion. Be your best cheerleader. While you expect others to support you, you should be your biggest supporter.

Bottom line, you have to feel you are worthy of what you desire, and how you are treating yourself will either help you improve in feeling worthy and deserving or continue the cycle of self-sabotage.
