Answering Your Question On Ways To Become More Self Aware

I begin today’s email by saying that I loved reading your feedback from the last email I sent out. I may not reply to all but I certainly read them all and I truly appreciate and commend your commitment to your personal growth.

 

 â€śWhat keys or ways do you use to become more knowledgeable and aware?

 

 

As I shared previously, self-awareness is a way of self-exploration, of seeking to know who you truly are. There are a number of ways you can utilize to achieve some level of self-awareness and I will share a few with you.

 

1.    Becoming aware of your own thoughts and feelings and even your physiology.

 

 

Tools you can use: -

  • Meditation: Meditation is an act of remaining silent and observing, it’s becoming familiar with the object of focus.
  • Practicing mindfulness: Mindfulness is a way of meditation. Being mindful of something simply means giving your attention to it. You can be mindful while washing your dishes , while doing your laundry, while eating etc. You get to know the things you enjoy and those you don’t.
  • Journaling: This is simply putting your thoughts on paper. It’s a beautiful way of connecting with yourself.

 

 

2.    Having a vision for your life. Don’t we all appreciate the excitement of having something we desire come true for us? Having a vision for our life gives us a sense of purpose. It gives us something to look forward to and puts us in an action momentum towards bringing that to life. 


3.    Stock taking through self-reflection:  Another avenue to know more about yourself comes when you take stock of your life. A self-reflection exercise can look like something you do at the end of the day. “How did I show up today?” “What do I wish I could have done better?

 

4.    Self-Inquiry: Self-inquiry is really a form of self-reflection You want to know yourself more by way of asking yourself questions. This can be in your daily interactions with people where you feel triggered, It can be when evaluating your own vision or goals etc

 

5.    Self-assessment tests:  This tool can help you to learn more about what your values are, your strengths, your weaknesses, your personality etc. The Self-guided questions can always help you in expanding your own mind and have more understanding of yourself.

 

6.    Asking trusted friends and being keen on both professional and social feedback you may get from time to time. Knowing how our actions and words affect other people can bring more awareness to ourselves. Feedback helps us know what and where we need to improve on, what we are good at etc.

 

 

You can exercise or implement these ways to become more aware of specific aspects of your life like your relationships, your career goals, your finances, your lifestyle and health, personal development, etc. And Once you become more aware you are able to make a plan on how to improve, make changes, adjust, etc, especially with the help of an accountability partner.
