The Shocking Truth About The People Behind Great Works

Jun 20, 2024 9:05 am

Hmmm...

Isn't it amazing how some people just seem to breeze through life with ease, making great strides in their work and communities?

Meanwhile, the rest of us are left wondering how they pulled it off.

Truth is, those "smart" people or geniuses you admire faced the same doubts and insecurities you might be feeling now.

They didn't have any special advantages or resources handed to them. Their success came from the choices they made and the work they put in.

Take a look at the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

He grew up an orphan with no formal education.

Yet through his dedication to spreading the message of Islam, he transformed entire societies and left an indelible mark on human civilization.

Because if his dedication to and consistency in truthfulness and fairness, he was named Al-Ameen.

Remember he buried six of his seven children with his own hands.

Remember he lost his grand-father, his uncle and his wives who were like his protectors against the threats of the polytheist Quraish.

Remember the people that trusted him had to go through untold persecution in Makkah.

He could have given up and said enough was enough.

But you know what?

He didn't.

You only remember the final parts of his story.

Don't you?

Do you ever remember his dedication before prophethood?

When he would spend months in a cave trying to meditate to find solutions to human problems.

Or consider Imam Al-Ghazali, one of the most renowned scholars in Islamic history.

He started off as a struggling student, constantly questioning his abilities.

But by focusing on what he could control - his effort and sincerity - he produced works that shaped Muslim thought for centuries.

The common thread?

They didn't let their circumstances or perceived shortcomings hold them back.

Instead, they took what little they had and used it to serve others in the best way they could.

That's the beauty of doing great work - it has nothing to do with your background or resources.

Doing great work is about identifying a need in your community and taking sincere steps, no matter how small, to address it.

That is your job as a Muslim.
